Nancy Lee Crowell, 104, of Perry, Florida passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024. She was born in Kingstree, South Carolina and was the oldest child of the late Jesse Monroe, Sr. and Janie Shaw Monroe. Mrs. Crowell retired from the Taylor County School System in 1983 after serving over 20 years as a Food Service Assistant. She was a faithful member of New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church for nearly 90 years and was affectionately crowned “Queen of New Brooklyn”.
Mrs. Crowell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Houston Crowell, sons Robert L. Monroe, Sr., William Houston Crowell, five brothers and one sister.
Her legacy will live on through her son, Charles A. Monroe of Cocoa, FL; daughter, Reguther Crowell of Perry, FL; sister, Janie M. Jones of Perry, FL; daughter-in-law, Charlie Mae Monroe; sister-in-law, Juanita Monroe, both of Perry, FL; grandchildren, Marilyn Sampson (Charles), Debra Monroe, Glenn Monroe, Reuben Crowell (Cara), Phyllis Overstreet (Walter), Rodrick Monroe Sr. (Shenicka) and Robert Monroe Jr.; sixteen great-grandchildren, eleven great- great- grandchildren and a goddaughter, Ann Marie Coleman. There is an innumerable host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones whose hearts were touched by beautiful ribbons of love by Mrs. Nancy Lee Crowell.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church, 807 Hampton Springs Avenue, Perry, FL from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church, Perry, FL, with interment in the Springhill Cemetery, immediately proceeding the service.
