Joseph Matthew Gillyard, 69 of Perry, passed away on October 25, 2021. He was born on July 25, 1952 to the late Lonnie “Bubba” Gillyard and the late Julia Stevenson in Perry, Florida. He was educated in the public schools of Perry, Florida. Joseph enjoyed many years of employment as a delivery man and a small appliance repairman. He accepted Christ at an early age and remained dedicated to the Lord.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosetta Evans and Carol Gillyard and five brothers, Cleo Evans, Charlie Gillyard, Sylvester Gillyard, John Thomas Gillyard, Ronnie Gillyard and one great-grandson, Harlem Gillyard.
He leaves to cherish his memories, five daughters, Sophia (Bart) Hollis, Christina Williams, Lisa Gillyard, all of Tallahassee, Florida, Kimberly Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee and Sherrie Hill of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Joseph Gillyard (Nikki) of Lake City, Florida and David Gillyard of Perry, Florida. He also leaves to mourn one sister, Helen Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and four brothers, Walter Evans (Grace) of Cross City, Florida, Samuel Gillyard of Baltimore, Maryland, Charlie (Dennise) Gillyard and Gregory (Rosa) Gillyard of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; 21 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list.
