Sylvester Jones was born on August 7, 1941, in Perry, Florida to the late Curly and Sermancer Jones. He was the youngest of two children and was preceded in death by his brother, Curly Jones, Jr. Sylvester graduated from Jerkins High School in 1959.
Sylvester accepted Christ and devoted his life to serving God. He faithfully served as a deacon at New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church. He remained a committed and dedicated member throughout his life.
Sylvester was united in holy matrimony to Sarah E. Jones of Perry, Florida. Together, they built a loving family. During his lifetime, Sylvester was employed at Buckeye Cellulose, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.
Sylvester loved his family dearly and treasured the time he spent with both family and friends. As a good soldier, he fought a good fight until he was called home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2026.
Sylvester leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Sarah Jones; children: Sylvester Jones, Jr. (Darlene) of Atlanta, GA, Sylvia Jones of Atlanta, GA, Eric Jones (Beverly) of Perry, FL and Patrick Jones (Toni) of Winter Garden, FL; five grandchildren: Chezney Woodfaulk of Atlanta, GA, Eric Jones II of Atlanta, GA, Kaelen Jones of Atlanta, GA, Kanye Jones of Winter Garden, FL and TKai Jones of Perry, FL; one great-granddaughter: Bailey Marcus of Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law: Laura White of Charlotte, NC and Mary Jones of Perry, FL; one brother-in-law: John D. Ellis of Perry, FL; god daughters: Dena Ratliff of Tallahassee, FL and Chelsea Williams of Perry, FL; special nieces: Lisa Williams of Perry, FL and Priscilla Ellis of Albany, GA. Sylvester is also survived by host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
