It is with earthly sorrow that we announce the passing of BISHOP EMERITA ELLA B. SPEED, 103, of Apalachicola. God, in the unsearchable depths of His wisdom, translated Bishop Emerita Speed from the Church Temporal to the Church Triumphant, Monday, October 9, 2023 in Apalachicola. The celebration of life will commence 2pm Saturday, October 14, 2023 at St. Paul AME Church with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Bishop Speed will lie in state on Friday, October 13 from 12pm-2pm at St. Paul AME Church and an hour prior to the service on Saturday.
